Mark and Megan Mantey
Serving the Lord in Uganda
Mark and Megan (Flannery) Mantey serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as career missionaries in Uganda. Mark serves as the project manager for the seminary in Uganda, managing the business aspects of it. He develops best practices for the long-term fiscal management of the seminary and collaborates in the creation of a long-term business plan.
As an instructor of Christian education and counseling, Megan teaches classes at the seminary in Uganda. She also presents at seminary conferences and continuing education modules and advises in seminary program development. Mark and Megan are also involved in the life of the local community and the local congregation. Through these interactions, they build partnerships that assist the seminary and its students and share the love of Christ and proclaim the Gospel.
Mark was born in Janesville, Wis., and grew up in Wilmington, N.C. His home congregation is Resurrection Lutheran Church, Cary, N.C. He studied economics at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Mark worked for 20 years in a family business, primarily as the vice president of sales, before serving in Uganda. He served on one short-term mission trip to Uganda as well. Mark’s hobbies include traveling, bowling, working on cars, learning about technology and spending time with Megan.
Megan was born in Oceanside, Calif., and grew up in northwest Montana, southern California and Colorado. Her home congregation is also Resurrection Lutheran Church. She received a bachelor’s degree in Christian education and her Director of Christian Education (DCE) certification from Concordia University, Portland, Ore., and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Campbell University, Buies Creek, N.C. Megan served as a DCE at her home congregation (Resurrection Lutheran Church) and at Grace Lutheran Church, Woodbridge, Va., before serving in Uganda. She also has experience as a mental health counselor in private practice and for advocacy centers. Megan served on three short-term mission trips to Uganda as well. Megan enjoys traveling, reading, coffee and conversation with friends and loved ones, laughing, all things Disney and spending time with Mark.
